When you call out a locksmith, they often have to re-prioritise their schedule to help you, which can include coming out during personal or family time if it’s after hours. Locksmiths have hundreds of hours of training, so the service they provide reflects their skills and the urgency of your need.
Good locks are usually not cheap, so unless you’re upgrading worn-out locks or changing the look, it’s often more economical to re-key the lock rather than replace it.
It’s always a good idea to change or rekey the locks when you buy a new home, as you can’t be certain who previously had access, particularly in rental properties.
